Summer Desert Dessert Contest!

Please Vote!
This summer, as motivation for Family Home Evenings, we started a simple dessert contest.
(We don't condone the evils of sugar, but you can't judge a 'Best Spiritual Lesson' contest.)
We've tried to keep each dessert anonymous but its hard to leave out the creator on some of these. Please be as unbiased as possible when voting. We understand the difficulties in voting on a dessert without tasting them, so as an added incentive, the winner of this year's contest will post their recipe on this blog. Happy Voting! Here are the summer's entries in no particular order. Please post your ballot in comments or at chrisandjenny@hotmail.com.

Volcano Cake. Chocolate Bunt cake with chocolate peanut butter drizzle. Topped with oreo's , and filled with a milk and Dry Ice explosion.

Hawaiian Shaved Ice. Made with fresh mango's and Pineapple and a tropical punch kick.

Mint Brownies. Rich Chocolate mint brownie with a laye
r of mint in the middle. (Actual photo was deleted...)

Chocolate Cheese Cake. Layers of Chocolate cake sandwiching a layer of Cheesecake, and fudge icing in between to hold it all together.

Rainbow Cake. White cake with sprinkles, topped with rainbow sorbet. (If you like rainbows and butterflies...) As American as Apple Pie. Apple Pie and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. (What's better than apple pie?- jars of apple pie filling that you can use any time you want!)Sugar cookies. These cookies are shaped like tools because this builder believe desserts build a strong family. (sound like a primary theme?) Flag Cake. Even more American than Apple Pie and topped with this summer's freshest fruit.

Home Made Ice Cream. Homemade vanilla with M & Ms, Snickers, Chocolate and caramel laced in.
Cereal. A favorite night time treat for a busy day, and perfect to enjoy in front of Discovery's Shark Week.
Good luck and happy voting!

MMMM what a deliciously fun idea! My vote goes to the minty chocolate-y treat.

There is something magical that happens when you add mint to just about anything...delish!

This was a thoughtful and funfilled idea. Congratulations! I vote for the homemade ice-cream, and 2nd for the festive American flag cake with fruit. Grandma

i couldn't read what it said about the cereal...the font was too small. this is such a toss up! it's between the chocolate cheesecake and the rainbow cake. these are some serious desserts!!

i'm going with the rainbow cake. it just sounds so good RIGHT NOW. and i'm an impulsive kind of girl. nice and refreshing and "light" for summertime.
go hailey!

I vote for the chocolate mint brownie, just because I have always had a weakness for them. 2nd place would be the apple pie. You canned apple pie filling, Jenny? I need to get your recipe. All of those desserts look yummy. And it sounds like you had fun making them.

I love mint brownies.. but oooh that chocolate cheese cake looks so good! I'll vote for that one. :D

By-the-way.. I am such a fan of yours, Jenny! And even more after the post about food poisoning!

Oh, this is hard. I think I will have to go with the chocolate cheesecake. But because I am a robinson, cereal would be my second. Go Shark Week!

So we took a poll at our house. Maxx votes Chocolate Cheesecake, Abby votes the Mint Brownies, Sofia votes the sugar cookies and I vote the Homemade Ice Cream. You are such a creative family. You take the cake or ice cream or cookies or brownies.....!

I vote for the creation - volcano bunt cake.

The ice cream. Hands down.

Although the volcano cake was amazingly creative!

Paul has a two way tie with his vote: the volcano cake and the choc cheesecake.

You should post later who made all of these. Was this a neighbor thing? Seriously, that's a lot of food for one house! Paul and I are wondering how much sugar the Robinson household has been hoarding all this time.

I have to say I would choose apple pie...mmm looks delicious!

p.s. i agree with paul and kristyn. i read this and thought, "where did all that sugar come from!!?? and more importantly...where did it go?? (not on jenny's butt that's for sure)
share some of the wealth!

I am assuming these desserts have been all summer long! And wow these were some hard choices! I totally go for cold cereal at night (not a huge fan in the morning)but I am going to have to say.....

the ICE CREAM! YUM! You had me at homemade, and then again Snickers.
